It really is short.

I've been having fearful thoughts lately. Not because of any recent mishaps, but concerns about my future; the thought of missing out on the joys life offers. I know they're out there, and I want to pursue them more than ever. I'm glad I now realize how fast time truly passes by, than to have it pass by, then, realize I had messed up by not doing my best to get the most out of life. Regrets (hopefully ones that aren't too detrimental) will be there, they come with the package. Not attempting to try new things is my biggest concern. In a way, I do feel I have wasted time and could have done a lot more up to this point in my life, but I'm only a young college student, so I've still got plenty of time. Hopefully. Living life to the fullest is not nearly as easy as the people who say it make it sound. Me meeting the right people, to have great opportunities and experience new things, to living another week aren't guaranteed. Boy, does that suck. A lot of us try to do things conservatively before deciding to do the things we want to do, and, tragically, probably won't even make it to that point. Priorities come first, and like many others, I have them. School happens to be the biggest of them all. That being said, I still try to make the most of each day as much as I possibly can.

Remaining optimistic about my summer.

Still on the job hunt. Boy, do I despise filling out online applications. I've filled out two in the last few weeks; no callbacks yet. I'm not trying to be picky with where I would like to work, like I once was, because I really want to work this summer. I have got too much activities planned for the summer to not have a job. It's almost guaranteed to be a great summer if I land a job. If I happen to remain unemployed, I'll do my best to make the most of my time off before school. I'll be reading a lot more, and I'll try to start working out.

Along with wiser spending.

I'll be making wiser decisions overall. One of the main things that must come to an end for me is my tendency to procrastinate. Just like my foolish spending habits, me not facing any consequences led to me continuing this practice. But unlike my reason for bringing my foolish spending to an end, I had actually faced a repercussion for my lazy actions.

Waiting to work on something that should have been started on the day it had been assigned to me has officially come to an end. When it came to school work, I still managed to pull good grades. I believed (and still do believe) that me working under pressure brought the best out of me, but there's no doubt in my mind that I can attain the same or an even higher level of success by putting more time into my work.

Wiser spending.

I will not be spending my money stupidly anymore. I mean, I don't even have the urge to buy more than half the things I had been purchasing when I actually was spending my money irresponsibly. When I took time to think about the amount of money that I had spent in the last year or two, I was truly regretful. I'm not even using most of the items I had purchased. I won't be denying myself enjoyment, but I'm aware of things that I can do without and I am finally putting an end to the stupid spending. Not facing any repercussions for my stupid spending was my biggest problem. I would waste money and still be able to buy anything else that I needed or wanted. I'm glad I feel this way about my spending now than later.

Summer 2010.

I swear, I'm planning on going to a boatload of concerts next summer. This is the first time in a long time that I am actually looking forward to the summertime. I usually hate the summertime. I hate the heat, being bored, and having no job. Having an optimistic attitude about things is not how I usually operate, but I'll give it a try when thinking ahead to summer of 2010. I had planned on getting a job and going to a lot of concerts this year, but ended up not getting a job, so I only made it to about 5 or 6 concerts this summer. I'm kicking myself for not going to see Grizzly Bear and Beach House in Brooklyn. It was free. Why I chose not to go? I have no idea. I just found out yesterday that Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Solange were in attendance, too. Not as performers; just members of the audience. That wasn't the only free concert I had decided not to attend, either. I chose to stay home instead of seeing Jazmine Sullivan and Chrisette Michelle in Central Park. Ryan Leslie showed up to perform, as well. The reason for me not attending the concert in Central Park stems from my experience from the last concert I had attended at Central Park with Chester French, Q-Tip, and Little Dragon (I have July blog entry about the concert). It had nothing to do with the performers, but the weather and how the concert was conducted. It was incredibly hot, and the intermissions between acts were over half an hour long. I was hot and my legs were killing me. In the end, I'm kicking myself for not going to that concert, too.

So next summer, I'm planning on:
  • Getting a job
  • Going to a lot more concerts than this year
  • Reading at least 10 books
  • Getting a camera; I need something around $400-500. Most likely a Nikon (D40 or D60).
These aren't all my plans, but they are the essentials for me having an enjoyable summer next year.

Plans.

I haven't used this blog in awhile.

I might hit up a Chester French concert later on in the afternoon, down at Central Park. It says the concert is from 3-7. I'm really not planning on staying that long.
Little Dragon and Q-Tip will be performing, as well. Little Dragon is a dope group. If I didn't like their sound, I wouldn't even consider going to this concert. That was really the deciding factor for me with this concert. I don't have shit to do, so I might as well go.

Oh, and I saw Keyshia Cole perform earlier this week in Brooklyn. Lyfe Jennings was the opening act. Cats in Brooklyn are wild.
